Criminal justice system ko samajhna mushkil lagta hai, lekin broadly trial stages ka flow structured hota hai.
- FIR – Serious cognizable offence me police complaint record karti hai.
- Investigation – Evidence collect, witness statements, seizure, medical reports.
- Chargesheet / Final report – Police court ko batati hai ki case establish hua ya nahi.
- Cognizance & Summons/Warrant – Court case formally accept karta hai, accused ko bulata hai.
- Charge framing – Court decide karti hai exactly kis offence ke under trial chalega.
- Prosecution evidence – Witnesses, documents, cross-examination.
- Defence evidence (optional) – Accused apni side ke witnesses la sakta hai.
- Arguments – Dono sides law + facts ke basis pe submissions dete hain.
- Judgment – Conviction ya acquittal.
- Sentencing – If convicted, punishment decide hota hai; phir appeal rights.
Is pure journey me accused ke rights (counsel, fair trial, cross-examination, etc.) legally protected hote hain, but practical implementation uneven ho sakta hai. Victim ke liye bhi statement, support, compensation mechanisms exist karte hain.
Basic flow jaanna har citizen ke liye useful hai, kyunki kabhi bhi aap witness, complainant ya accused ke role me aa sakte ho.
